Overview

The Early Childhood Education Assistant course equips you with foundational knowledge and practical skills to support children’s learning and development in daycare, preschool, and community settings. Through interactive lessons, observation, and classroom activities, you’ll learn how to create safe, stimulating environments that promote social, emotional, and cognitive growth in young children.

Certifications (Required for Employment

The following certifications are commonly required by employers in the childcare field but are not included in this program. Students are encouraged to obtain them independently to enhance employability:
 
    • Infant/Child First Aid & CPR (Level C or equivalent)
    • Food Safety / WHMIS orientation

    • Child Protection & Safe Practice modules

Admission Requirements

Domestic Applicants

    • Government-issued photo ID

    • High school completion or mature student assessment

    • English language proficiency appropriate for coursework

International Applicants

    • Valid passport and study authorization (if required)

    • Translated academic documents (if not in English)

    • Proof of English proficiency (e.g., IELTS/TOEFL or internal test)

    • Vulnerable sector criminal record check (where applicable)
